Kamasa Dorothy
Kamasa is a purpose driven African youth with over 9 years’ experience in sustainable agriculture, nature-based solutions for climate adaptation, ecosystem restoration, food systems innovation, indigenous climate solutions, food security, public policy, governance, and community development. Kamasa has served on the FAO forum of experts since 2019, contributing drafting policy frameworks for global governances of food systems and helping indigenous farmers improve food security in Ghana. She is a Ghanaian social entrepreneur, humanitarian, researcher, climate & food security expert, and the founder and Executive Director of Centre for Women and Food Security-Ghana. Through Centre for Women and Food Security-Ghana, she and her team empower women in indigenous, rural, migrant, and vulnerable communities to improve food security. Kamasa has been featured and won several awards in different categories on the 2023 Humanitarian Awards Global Honorary award, 2022 Humanitarian Awards Global 100 Most impactful change makers in African, and 2023 African Women Experts, and 2022 Female & More Social Impact award, and 2022 Noble Missions Active Citizenship award, and 2022 & 2021 Outstanding Youth in Agriculture of the year in Ghana, and 2021 Africa Queen of Energy Award in Community Leadership, and 2021 ODIC Impact Challenge Top 30 Under 30 Change Maker. Furthermore, she is a 2022 Mandela Washington Fellow, and a 2020 YALI RLC Fellow, and spoke at the 5th Global Forum on Elimination of Child labor in South Africa representing FAO in 2022, Spoke at the FAO Virtual Global Solutions Forum : Acting together to end child labour in agriculture, Opening and High-Level Dialogue, “For Children and with Children in 2021, Spoke at the Global Landscapes Forum on Restoring Africa’s Landscapes in 2019, and Spoke at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement Seminar on Improvement and Intensification of cowpea and maize production. She is Miss Agriculture Ghana 2018 1st Runner Up & Most Disciplined Contestant, she is a member of the FAO FSN Forum and mentor's rural women, indigenous farmers, and youth to improve food systems under the FAO FSN forum.
